3094 and 3148 at the Turnaround

Los Angeles Metropolitan Transit Authority (ex-Los Angeles Transit Lines) PCCs nos. 3094 and 3148 pause at a turnaround probably as part of a fan trip as abandonment approached. The image is dated March 1963. Note the differences between the two PCC units, quite visible in this side-by-side image.

  1. 3148 was the “honorary Red Car” having been fitted with standard gauge trucks from an San Francisco Muni 1016-class PCC for a test run on the Long Beach Line shortly before its abandonment in 1961.
