Pacific Electric no. 1001 and Los Angeles Railway no. 536 sit together at Travel Town in 1956. (Los Angeles Transit Lines no. 1160 sits behind 536.)

The little tree between the two cars would later grow up to be big enough to blow over and destroy 536 years later.

And 1001 is preserved in running condition and under cover at Orange Empire. Because it is old and creaky, it normally comes out of the barn only for special occasions, such as Pacific Electric Weekend in June. Even with only two motors operable, it still gets up and moves on the main line.

It also moves on the net where some pesky site is using a photo of it to try to suck you in for a sign-up. Seems to be no end to how much disgrace the image of Pacific Electric must suffer.
