The 4636 is still wearing the leftover vestibule gates from Northern CA service…not enough of a PE fan to know if she’s ex-NWP or IER…
4600’s were ex-IER, 4500’s were ex-NWP. Other clues: The roll-sign box on the side opposite the motorman (not used by PE unless for train numbers.) I remember seeing cars of this type on the Monrovia-Glendora Line before the big post-war makeover, when they still had the sliding gates. (I was too young to notice numbers in those days). They acquired the name “Missions”, not because of any connection with early California history, but as a shortened from of “Maritime Commission”, which brought them to LA for the “Calship Specials”.
