Special Race Trains are featured in this 1939 - 1940 Pacific Electric Railway timetable, listing round trip fares from 6th and Main Street Station to the track for .55 cents! Cars leave downtown from 8:00 am until 2:00 pm with race days from Wednesday through Saturday. On the back are some of the track records, including Seabiscuit's 1937 record run from which a movie of the same name was filmed. Measures 3 5/8" by 5 7/8", four panels.

Racing season was a great time for PE watching in Monrovia. On big race days, like the Handicap and the Derby, the Arcadia yard would fill up and the remaining trains would deadheaded to the far side of Monrovia. I noticed that the special trains had a round trip fare, so even if someone backed the wrong hayburners, he could still get back to LA.
