Los Angeles Metropolitan Transit Authority (ex-Pacific Electric) blimps nos. 1543 and 1515 meet on the viaduct at the 6th and Main Street Station in downtown Los Angeles in this image dated October 1960.

    The “Green Machine” is now preserved at Travel Town in Griffith Park. 1543 was the only “Blimp” to get the MTA paint job.

    With new sheet metal above the windows and the green paint; not a bad looking car. As kids we waited all day on more than a few Saturdays just to ride it. Finally we got our one ride on 1543. . . .
