1543’s New Look

Metropolitan Transit Authority experimented with this paint scheme, as captured on April 8, 1961 at Dominguez Junction on the Long Beach Line. Here ex-Pacific Electric no. 1543 pauses for passengers wearing the new MTA look. This car now rests at Travel Town in Griffith Park, Los Angeles.

This photo was taken the last month the Long Beach line was operational.
Note that the small windows along the side have been blocked out with some nice sheet metal treatment. Car sure looked good when it was outshopped. . . .
