A stunning overhead view shot from the southeast corner of 9th Street at San Pedro Streets. We see Los Angeles Transit Lines S Line (ex-Los Angeles Railway) no. 1236 headed northbound on San Pedro Street apparently stopping for the big Blimp to make her left turn onto East 9th Street. Pacific Electric no. 4637 is traveling eastbound toward 4 tracks and a quick trip to Long Beach.

I’ve always found it fascinating that interurban trains and trolley cars once shared busy city streets with motorists and pedestrians while they ran on girder rails, throuhout the U. S. This is something I’ve never seen in real life, except in photographs and videos.

I’ve always been impressed by scenes of trains running up and down urban streets – something, I believe, we’ll never see again.
