    That sure looks like it’s pulling into 6th and Main on the elevated viaduct.

    The original caption should have been “approaching San Pedro Street.” The train is clearly leaving 6th and Main for Catalina dock.

    The #4611 “IS” PULLING INTO 6th & MAIN ..

    The 4611 is LEAVING the 6th and Main St Station. Look behind the train, there is an interlocking signal clearly visible, all of which were on the beginning of the flat portion of the elevated, governing the entrance or departure from the loading tracks. The trolley poles show the direction of travel, which is outbound.
    When the Northern District was still in service, a switchtender handled the switch at the bottom of the ramp, which was not protected by signals.
