This photo is looking west on Long Beach Blvd. just south of East 12th Street. The Hotel is still in business today as the Plaza Hotel. The left shop below the hotel is vacant; the shop to the right is Rainbow Seafood. The building to the right of the hotel, a transmission shop in the photo, is vacant today. The Oldsmobile dealership has been scraped to the ground.

This shot the train is northbound [inbound] with C Stanley Martin Olds and Salta Pontiac on the west side of the street. This section of the Blvd can be seen in “Its a Mad Mad Mad Mad World” the all star cast comedy. The shoot was done on a Sunday between 8th and 14th the Blvd was closed and in the movie all traffic lanes are northbound. The shot is of two Tanner Yellow Cabs from LA chasing through LGB. Its on You Tube also. . .

Looks like a good spot for a “now” photo with Blue Line cars.
