Pacific Electric Trolley Waltz of 1906

The Pacific Electric Railway Historical Society presents the “Pacific Electric Trolley Waltz” from 1906 accompanied by a visual selection from our online image archive. This exceedingly rare 1906 recording has been enhanced and restored but still retains the aural “patina” of its time.

Your historical video was amazing! It took me right back in time, I am doing research for a book I’m writing on my childhood growing up in Stanton California. From what I am currently learning, my hometime benifited greatly from this Railway, as it provided much needed transportation to the larger cities, such as Los Angeles.Thank goodness for oraganizations such as yours, and I feel very fortunate that I was able to view it, I would appreciate any kind of historic data you can offer. Thanks again, Rosanna Reeder

I applaud the Society’s putting this slide show together backed by the Trolley Waltz of 1906 for the music. But it was confusing to me at first since several of the images selected had motor vehicles in them that were manufactured in the late 1930s.

I’m no expert, but I have viewed enough of the Society’s rail images on this site to know that some of the rolling stock shown in the slide show were not manufactured in the early 1900s either. Just thought it would have been more effective to keep the visual and the aural more in touch.

Richard, the slideshow is merely an overview of imagery that we had on hand at the time of the video’s creation.

Well done! From where was the last picture taken? I’m guessing either south Hermosa Beach, or Playa del Rey.

Does PERYHS have any biographical information about the composer, E.M.Greenough?
