That classical-design building in the background is either the first or second LA Dept. of Water & Power distributing station–the point of origin for DWP’s takeover of the City of Los Angeles electric system. One bit of traction trivia: Both LARY and PE were supplied by Southern Calif. Edison, even after DWP covered the whole city. This traces back to when Henry Huntington controlled the two railways and Pacific Light and Power, an SCE predecessor.
