Pacific Electric interurbans (lead by no. 1008) roll toward Los Angeles through El Sereno in June of 1945. The image was used in Donald Duke’s 1958 book “PE” (page 20): Signal bridges and well ballasted track decorate the four track line at El Sereno as an Alhambra-San Gabriel train rolls on to Los Angeles.

Alhambra-San Gabriel-Temple City service was converted to bus in 1941. A close look at 1008’s dash sign indicates it’s working Pasadena via Short Line (sun angle indicates the train is inbound to LA).

This is a splendid black & white photo showing my favorite Pacific Electric equipment in their heyday. A bygone era.
