All former PE cars ran PE colors under MCL and MTA except for 1543 which got a coat of two-tone green and white.
The RED PAINT on the ex-PE Blimps sure did not hold the big cars together, because at the end , there was little onr NO paint left on them!!
Being stored in the salt environment at LGB, I remember alot of the “red paint” was rust in the last few years of operation.
