The train appears to be headed to Long Beach by way of Wilmington on the Long Beach – San Pedro Line. The Ten Hundreds have just entered the West Basin Line in San Pedro.

Photographer was standing just north of the intersection of Regan and A streets, under where the western approach to the Vincent Thomas Bridge is now.

Was 1054 an ex-Peninsula Railway car? (Peninsula Railway was another railway under the control of the Southern Pacific, which went belly-up ca. 1937.)

Yes, 1054 was part of a group of 8 that were hand-me-downs from the Peninsular Ry.
