It’s July 1954 at West Hollywood yard. New GM buses (right) are ready to take over the Hollywood Boulevard line.

If I’m not mistaken, those GM Old Looks eventually became the 2100 series for SCRTD. Many of them were still running when I moved to L. A. in September 1976. Rode them many times, particularly on the old 95 (Vermont Ave). They were my favorite of the RTD Old Looks, the front doors sometimes “groaned” as they closed. The last Old Look bus I ever rode was 2167, running on an 871 tripper in the spring of 1981. Great pictures on a great site! 🙂

Actually, the buses in the photo were in fact MCL 400’s which became SCRTD 2300’s. Most lasted until the RTS’s arrived about 1981 /1983

I think this photo may be right after rail abandonment on 9/26/54, because there is a lonely 5 car train of Hollywood cars which looks ready to be towed to its funeral. The head sign says Not In Service. I have read that the Hollywood cars were hauled away in 5 car trains.
