This is at Torrance shops after upgrading for service on the Echo Park line.
Note the air whistle–this would have been used on Eastern Distric local lines, but would be removed when the cars of this group went to the Echo Park Line. I remember seeing them during a visit to downtown LA in the late 1940’s; they wore the same paint job as the 1100’s that went by my home in Monrovia, but they were a lot smaller and had no couplers.
