ok, Allan, tell me what the loading area looked like. Was it like 6 & Main where tracks were open? Did you enter from Subway to right of car in pict? What was all the glassy area in the rear>

This area was like a giant car port for trolleys, there was no tunnel on this part of the property. – Steve Crise
Great site! I grew up in West LA, went to Venice High, and always knew that Venice had such a wide center median for a reason. But, I did not know the extent to which we, or maybe, they dismantled a fully functional public transportation system. Rebuilding as much is going to take massive amounts of funds, but, it has to happen. Again, great site!
This scene is highly recognizable today as the old Hill Street Station surface yard. All that’s missing are the vehicles of the era, the walkway, and a few other details. It is totally paved over and serves as a parking lot.
Last time I was in the area (about a year ago), LATL 1435 was under that shelter, which is now closed off with a chain link fence. Going back 60+ years, I remember seeing the 100-class cars on Hill St. during a rare visit to downtown LA. They were so small compared to the 1100’s I was used to, and they didn’t have couplers.
