San Pedro Panorama

The sprawling complex that was Pacific Electric’s terminus in San Pedro is captured in this panorama from the 1930s. Both freight and passenger operations can be seen in this shot.

This photo seems to be taken from the old San Pedro city hall / court house on Harbor Blvd. and 7th street. The tracks going off to the right, north-east would lead to the old AMERICAN PRESIDENTS LINE.

That looks like a three-car train of “Tens” down there.

An excellent aerial shot showing a train of “Tens” and a box motor.

The just beyond structures in dead center are the old Southern Pacific station facility. The drawbridge is visible above that (tap to enlarge). The West Basin line veered off and went around the left side of this view (for those who don’t understand all this jibberish yet). In earlier days, coastal steamers Yale and Harvard would dock off to the right side. I have the scene around c.1910 on a souvenir plate (German china). Also a recovered snapshot with Yale in port and older-era freight cars on the tracks.
