This image is of a Railroad Boosters trip on the Whittier Line that took place on May 14th, 1939. The location is Stern. This was the 18th excursion trip planned by the Boosters. They titled their excursions, this one being “Off The Beaten Track”. PE car 1205 was used for the excursion. Others locations visited that day included Whittier, Fullerton and Yorba Linda. Railroad Boosters survives today as the Pacific Railroad Society, aka PRS.
Stern is the name of the end of the line station
“Stern” was one of the original landowners in what became Yorba Linda. The YL PE station building is still on Imperial Highway, now a restaurant.
