Near the west approach to the L.A. River on the Bellflower Line: Pacific Electric blimp no. 498 appears to be hosting a railfan excursion while L.A. bound car 318 passes on the mainline northbound. Today this scene is totally obliterated by the construction of the 105 Freeway which began in the mid 1980s.

The 105 Freeway runs east/west through the Willowbrook area north of Compton and is some miles north of this picture’s location. This scene is immediately north of the Los Angeles River bridge. Car 498 is stopped southbound on the red signal waiting for 318 to clear the single track bridge.. The Blue Line to Long Beach now occupies this right of way.
