Both LACMTA and OCTA are conducting very preliminary studies into possibly “reactivating” the old PE Santa Ana line. Dont hold your breath, though.

Virtually all of the right-of-way on the old line between Bellflower and Santa Ana is still in existance and has the original trackage. Just imagine how busy this line would be if it was still being used.

The is a GREAT looking b&w shot! I wonder if #1208 is a trailer. Or is it a motorized car being pulled by combine #1370?

1370 and 1208 are both “San Bernardino Twelves” and would run in MU. Note the couplers, which are very similar to the kind used on the older New York subway cars. The upper part couples the cars mechanically and makes up the air brake connections, and the lower part has a cover that drops down and allow the electrical connections for the control circuits to make up.
