Location is Huntington Beach, if not already obvious.

Date should be mid-to-late 1930’s–note automobiles in background.

The “LIMITED-NO LA CITY TRAFFIC” statement on the dash sign was common in the 1930s. The date can be further established when we consider when service between Newport and Balboa was discontinued (1941, and no, I wasn’t there to witness this, being just five years old).

I sometimes suggest that this service be revived as a modern light-rail operation. We could call it the “Tan Line”.
