    The track arrangement looks like Wilson Trail at the top of the Sierra Madre Line, and compares favorably with the map of that line drawn by Ray Younghans for “Lines of Pacific Electric”. I think the two foreground cars are 1054 and 1055, since 854 and 855 both became 1300 series combos in 1932.

    I suspect that “Redondo” headsign was the work of a railfan–I rather doubt that any real-life train would go from Sierra Madre to Redondo Beach. And if the cars are indeed 1054 and 1055, it would date the photo to some time between 1937 (when the 1050 class was created from the second hand cars from San Jose) and the early 1940s, when PE removed the Eclipse fenders. Maybe someone can check the early Railroad Boosters excursion list to see if that would account for the roll-sign spoof.
