It seems odd that the Oak Knoll Route would have been used for the Mt Lowe cars since that is a much longer routing than the more direct Pasadena Short Line. However, in checking Interurbans Special 21 (Laurence Versey), that was originally the case. As time passed, some runs were routed on the Pasadena Short Lie for a savings of 15 minutes or so. This reference stated that in 1935, all the Mt. Lowe runs ran over the Short Line.
