This undated photo by Ernie Leo catches a Pacific Electric freight passing by the Covina Station. Note the signage on the building, stating it is also the office for the Southern Pacific and the Railway Express Agency.

This would have been after Nov. 1946, when the newly electrified SP line through Covina became the PE route. The electrification only lasted about five years, then the Northern District became diesel freight only. Note that Covina is not in the Eastern District; according to Special 61, that district was the territory east of Claremont. Today’s Metrolink trains stop with the engines about where the PE freight motors are in the photo. My older daughter regularly boards a Metrolink train to LA for work every weekday at this location.
Thanks for giving the location. I LOVE looking at historic photos of my home town! I wish I could go back in time for only a day…..
