“Led,” not “lead” (a metallic substance).

The lead car in this three car train is the 1210.
Sorry, I just couldn’t stand it! Ed said so too.

The home in the background still stands on the southwest corner of Fairplex Dr and Walnut St in La Verne. The tracks turned south towards what is now White Ave towards Pomona. This shot is taken from what now is inside Gate 15 of the Fairplex off Arrow Hwy and just east of the NHRA drag strip starting line.

Note that the second car in the train is a Portland “hand-me-down”. PE was able to get cars from different groups to work in MU, something that seems to be impossible with today’s LRVs.

Looks like it might read as PE 1257.
