    Note that the destination sign is missing (probably removed when the car was rebuilt into a rail grinder around 1948). I’ll have to check my old photos, but I think they were restored/replaced by the time I saw the car at Orange Empire in 1963.

    Recent photos of PE 1001 show the destination signs replaced, minus the metal support rods that frames the signs and the “smashboards” above them.
