It’’s a beautiful day for a trolley ride in Los Angeles. The camera looks north on Broadway between 4th & 5th Streets in this 1909 view. The Los Angeles Railway cars are king of the city’s conveniences. Well dressed Angelenos go about their business (no tank tops or shorts can been seen). In the years to come, the automobile will become a more formidable opponent in their fight for street space.. As the late Paul Harvey would say, “And now you know the rest of the story.”

Notice that the car in the forground has one trolley pole, removable head light (most likely on the front). Also, the roof sign reads “West Eleventh St”

The clock down the street places this around noon..ish! Ladies dresses have jumped about four inches in only a few years..they were dragging the ground like a Bissell carpet sweeper.
