9225 is preserved in operating condition at Orange Empire. I sometimes run it for special events. In addition to the gong on the cab roof, it has a PE style whistle, which I cleaned out a while back, so we have a “Yellow Car” that “speaks Pacific Electric”. A modern take on this venerable derrick is from the children who have been watching Thomas the Tank Engine on TV (or visited with him at Day Out With Thomas), they call 9225 “Cranky the Crane”.
