Los Angeles Railway car no. 285 is captured on either experimental trucks or "shop trucks" while wearing 9 Line signage. According to Ralph Cantos:
The trucks really change the appearance of the car. It is possible that the #285 was on "shop trucks" ,but it looks like she is "in service"

INTERURBANS SPECIAL #12 shows a photo of 285 with these trucks which were identified as being Brill 77-E trucks. The caption for the photo states that these trucks were previously under car 950, and car 1151 before that.

Presumably the Brill 77 trucks were more expensive than the arch-bar trucks that nearly all of the Type B and Type C cars had, even though the Brills probably rode better.
