    War was over and life was good. Men still wore real hats – not ball caps – and women dressed up to go shopping. My how things have changed.

    Indeed, those were days of America’s strength in its values as reflected in how people lived their daily lives. The clean streets and well-groomed people are pleasant memories today.

    Yes, the “well groomed people” moved to the west side for a variety of reasons including transportation, real estate, and white flight. The homeless filled the void downtown, and, you are correct, they are not well groomed.

    “The Good Old Days” of Los Angeles are gone forever…thank goodness for historical associations like PERyHS that keep the past alive and bring us a smile of good times gone by.
